HAPPY LABOR DAY

Well WEE ELLEs ACROSS AMERICA,

Its official--we have run the show for the first time. We ran through the show semi backwards--with the 2nd act first followed by the opening and it wasn't as rough as it could have been.  We did stop and start a bit, going back to fix things. But, even with understudies subbing in ( due to Ven's matinee and others having DR appts and costume fittings), it was not bad.

Next week, we will start running the show every day.  But, at different times so to keep it fresh and real (much like Oprah keeps it real and not like Tyra keeps it real).  Its kind of frightening to think that we are a week away from heading to RI for tech madness.  But, i guess it was inevitable.

Also, I should let you know who is spearheading this puppy. First off, Jerry Mitchell is Directing and Choreographing again.  Denis Jones is Asst Choreographing again, with Nick Kenkel from the Bway company coming in to work some hip-hop moves that he helped put together. And, Mark Bruni is Ass. Directing again. You can see all beautiful spirits below- as well as our Production Stage Manager Tom Bartlett in the background.

Some questions have been asked through the emails: so thought i would answer them.

1. Yes, Ven Daniels is doing the Bway show and rehearsals at the same time
2. Yes Lauren and Rhiannon are both in the show
3. Yes this is an Equity (union) tour
and lastly
4. Yes I will include more pics from rehearsals. It is hard to take pics while I am in certain scenes, but I will see what magic I can pull.

Also, stay tuned for a little heart to heart with the infamous leader of this mammoth musical. Thats right, Mein Capitan Jerry Mitchell. I think it may happen over Mojitos as we bask in the sandbox on his balcony.  IT may even be on video......

Have a good holiday weekend ya'll.......

We've finished blocking

Well, today brought us back the schedule of 30 min jumproping warmup before jumping into WHIPPED INTO SHAPE. We then finely tuned alot of the 2nd act.
here is a spoiler for the UBER FANS out there
SO DONT READ AHEAD IF YOU WANT TO BE SURPRISED......

there is no automation in the tour and the cast moves all the set pieces.  With the cutting of 3 tracks( 2 girls & 1 guy), plus all the major
set pieces (house included) being trimmed down to representative bits that can move on a semi---ITS A WHOLE NEW SHOW.
Still expect to be awed! I am not going to say what exactly it is....but know that the window moment at the beginning as well as the house flying in will not be.  Sorry kids.....thats the way a TIER B tour runs.

Also, looks like i strayed a bit from the show and starting ranting about the Democratic Convention....sorry for that. I just thought it needed mentioning. Cause jazzhands and pink are amazing, but sometimes the rest of the world is on a different schedul. But maybe Obama could be pink?  I was thinking of creating BLONDE FOR OBAMA T-shirts, but then maybe the producers would get mad.
 Dont know.....
anything is possible on the road.

To answer a question: the dog playing BRUISER is named Frankie.  And here is a lil video of Rhiannon working with him( cant get it to download so stay tuned).

SO, we finished blocking the show today around 3.  We were all elated, and tomorrow we begin the runthroughs and cleanups.  It will be nice, seeing as how we haven't visited the first act in almost a week. SCARY!!!!!

Also, got our first fan pic with Becky Gulsvig, who is our illustrious Elle.  So here ya go....

um...did i forget something?  dont think so....buenos noches mi amigos

Week 3...and feet are swollen

Well, i just finished watching the democratic convention for the last three hours, after promising myself i would pack. But, how can you miss Stevie Wonder, Richardson ( who i was happily questioning for the VP ticket), and then what I will say is the next President of the US. The speech was empowering---making me excited about an election for the first time since Bill Clinton tooted his saxophone on the Arsenio Hall show. Much like the buddhists and MLK, Obama reiterated that "Our destiny is inextricably linked.....we cannot walk alone." And that is where we are headed.....and seeing that my dad was at the "March on Washington" 45 years ago---i feel like i just bathed myself in the ideals that my forefather held almost half a century ago. My apartment in Queens isnt exactly the MALL in D.C.---but i do have a birdbath in the back that looks like the pond that Forrest Gump waded through.

So, today we came seconds close to finishing the LB Remix. We have worked on it the last two days. And, i can honestly say...kicking the irish jig is harder than it looks. Also, we jig like nobody has jigged before. And jigged so hard that some people had to take a lil nap. A lil thing i like to call Becky's Blanky show

So to break up the monotony of the day, we all started to make a few crazy faces.

With free coffee, 2 hours of jumproping, and Jerry getting frustrated because of our lack of concentration........i decided to deepfry a MOONPIE! It is now the official snack of the national tour. But will it change the physique of KIKI THE HAIRDRESSER?

Only time will tell. It will also tell if Kiki's sushi business will pick up off the ground.

Stay tuned....same legally blonde time same legally blonde channel

2nd Post--and it took longer than it should have

Okay so i have officially fallen behind in my duties as tour Sacajawea, but i will do my damnedest to catch up.  First off, we do have our new official swing.  ( cue the applause) Spencer Howard.  There was an emergency call and the irony is.....Spencer is the guy who semi caused Ward's back problem. Turns out that Ward was lifting Spencer in the dream ballet of WEST SIDE and the back went out. Weird how the universe turns out that way.....but we wish Ward the greatest. And, as tours usually start taking people out I am sure he will sometime end up on the tour.

So, the midst of week 3 continues to bring physical pain to some. The jump roping has taken its toll on lower backs, as we are well past 2 hours a day on top of the other dancing.  Its worse than soccer training in 100 degree weather in the summer.  You resign yourself to living in a constant state of swampbutt....i love life.

We are well into blocking the LB Remix today....so looks like the next week will be alot of cleaning before we head to Providence.  This will also include Jerry dancing about, China snoring loudly during rehearsals, and physiotherapy for the masses.

Right now, I am off to watch the Democratic Convention.....so for all you out there..........REGISTER TO VOTE!!!!!
And anyone who isnt allowed to vote----pay attention to whats going on as opposed to listening to just what others say and the news. Do your research and form an
opinion. This election will affect what happens to your children in 20 years.

Good night and Good Luck

The First Rehearsal Blog---a week of sweat later

Well friends of PINK,

This is the first posting for the eagerly awaited for
1st National Equity Tour of (cue the trumpets)

(and the villagers rejoice)
I am sorry it has taken this long to begin, but we have been waiting to hear back from AEA on the use
of pictures from rehearsal.  So, instead of waiting, I am just going to begin.  I may have my role of EQUITY DEPUTY revoked....but i must bring this, the word of Elle, to her people.

My name is NICK DALTON. I play Pforzheimer, as well as cover Warner and Dad/Winthrop---and I
will be your Cpt Kirk through this crazy adventure.... with occasional guest appearances by  elite stars.

Stardate 9.21.08
We are now a week +1/2 into rehearsal.  The first day was amazing---with a full read through, meet and great, and the introduction of 3 of our dogs.  We have a standby for both RUFUS and BRUISER as well as our first string pooches, but our BRUISER understudy decided he didnt want to travel the country.  So, yesterday we got the replacement.  here is a Picture of China (a.k.a. Rufus #1).

We are almost done blocking and restaging dance numbers for the first act, as we near the end of week two.  For the past week or so we have been beginning rehearsal with an hour of jumproping---building stamina for the 2nd act opener.  I think I may have actually lost 10 pounds since we started. Its mad--
-living throughout the day with completely saturated clothes must be what it feels like to wear a diaper.  Also, today we began a little 2 hour jumproping workout, as we learn the beginning of the opener of Act 2. I forsee pain in my calves.....just a thought. Perhaps a slight burning....

Also,  check out these three videos.  They were both posted on YOUTUBE---one is accurate on who the cast actually is and simple, the other is an edited movie with graphics( who has that time) and the other is a complete travesty of rumors and I dare say things that were made up.  Or maybe just wishful thinking.  Click away.....

Also, before I run to finish  I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER---do be comforted to know that we are now scheduled well into a 3rd year. So this puppy is going to be on the road for many a fortnight.  Wait for it----also looks like we will be getting a new swing because Ward hurt his back. He will not be back to 100% health for a few weeks.  So, send him good thoughts.

Til next time friends.....
Namaste,
Nick

p.s. I am also going to try to include video whenever possible so stay tuned.  There could be pre-show announcements...or the dog talking....anything is possible.
